What’s The Impact On Community?

I have been working on my Masters degree for a little over a year and it has been an incredible experience.

Incredibly exciting…incredibly tiring…incredibly thought provoking…incredibly frustrating…it’s been incredible.

This week I am wrapping up a class that has been preparing me for my capstone thesis. Although the details of the study have not yet been fleshed out, in general terms I am planning on examining the impact of Facebook on the development of connection and community within church congregations.

I expect this to be a very interesting topic to study and pertinent to both my job as Director of Outreach/Connection for a church and also social media manager for a church web design company.

In your experience, how have Facebook, Twitter and the various other social media tools impacted your sense of connection and community in life in general?

Chaotic Life

I find life to be somewhat chaotic. That’s not always bad but it does require a person to do some significant prioritizing. This has been a reality for me over the last several months. With taking on new responsibilities at work, being involved in the completion of a multimillion dollar building project, grad school and the general responsibilities of life, I’ve had to put certain things on the back burner. Case in point my blog…

With that being said, I hope to be at a place now where I will be able to re-engage on some level. I have found myself to be incredibly inspired to blog by a variety of recent events and so I look forward to being able to share those things, as I think they are significant enough to garner some attention.

Here’s to reengaging in the blogosphere!

I've Got The GPS, Mom's Got The Snacks

For Christmas I got a great little Garmin etrex GPS for hiking. It’s the sort of thing that will leave little electronic breadcrumbs to help you find your way home, show you maps and allow you to play simple electronic games if you get bored along the trail. It’s truly a great piece of equipment and I’m looking forward to thoroughly taking advantage of it.

I told my brother-in-law about it and his response was “let’s go get lost.” We might just have to do that sometime.

The other great thing about this high tech trinket is that you can use it to go geocaching.  Something that my mom is very excited to do as you can see from her own blog post...as long as she’s got the snacks.

The Future of Xbox

With the Consumer Electronic show going on, I thought it was fitting to post a video of the piece of technology that I’m most excited to see in action. Check out Xbox’s Project Natal.

I’m not much of a gamer but that is incredible!

It's Time To Re-Up

Well it’s been a struggle to maintain, web pages and twitter accounts, facebook pages and blogs so in the end I had to make a choice of what to shelf and it ended up being 24/7 Life.  However over the last week or so I’ve really felt compelled to pick it back up again.

Has anything changed in terms of what I have manage on the interweb, no. But, I feel like I have a lot to say and a great deal of inspiration so lets give the ol’girl a go. Perhaps I can rekindle the passion for blogging that I had last year.

I say this all to segue into a series of new post.

So…let’s begin.

"Where Faith And Life Intersect"

I just got done launching a blog for The Crossing. It’s going to be a place for ministry leaders to share what God has been doing in their hearts as a result of The Crossing, as well as for them to give thoughts or insights into the young adult culture. It’s going to be a fun site to keep up on.

Check it out…

Need A Little Spice

To be completely honest, I’ve become a little bored…

I started this blog back in January and over the last 9 months it’s been a lot of fun to set out before myself and ultimately the rest of the world, my thoughts, feelings, etc. Yet over the last few months I become bored with the blog. I need to spice it up. I’m not really sure what that means, but something needs to change.

Maybe this comes from my new start as young adult pastor. Maybe it’s just the fact that I’ve been staring at the same template for the last 9 months. Whatever the case is, I need to spice things up a tad.

hmm… what could I do…

Spark

The last week and a half have been crazy in terms of our computer situation at New Life. The servers have been replaced, computers have been backed up, people have been unable to log-on, it’s been a challenging finding files, etc…

Yesterday however I finally was able to get back on my machine and I was able to play around with a new program loaded onto all of our computers called “spark.” Essentially it’s an instant messaging program that we can use internally.

Let me just say, I love it! It’s a free program and it’s going to save so much time AND space in my inbox.

If your office could use something like this, I highly recommend you check it out!

What's Wrong With My Twitter…

I know it sounds bad, but my twitter feed is not working.

Hopefully I can get it figured out soon…
