Schultz Sues

Way to step up to the plate Schultz. A little too late? Maybe. Should he have never sold the team to Clay Clay in the first place? Yes.

Nonetheless Howard Schultz, Starbucks CEO and former Seattle Supersonics owner is now suing Clay Bennett and his ownership group because they apparently didn’t ever want to keep the Sonics in Seattle.

Schultz could possibly end up being the hero when in fact he got us into this mess in the first place.

SAVE OUR SONICS!

An Afternoon At "The Safe"

I love people’s generosity.

Today before our second service a father and daughter came up to me and asked what I was doing this afternoon. Not having any plans until this evening I told them “nothing.” Good thing. They proceeded to give me two third baseline box seat tickets to the Mariners game today. My wife Monika and I went.

I love baseball. I always have. In a lot of ways it is my first love when it comes to sports.

In 1990 I started collecting baseball cards, Topps, Donrus, Fleer, Score, Bowman; I collected them all. I started collecting on the tail end of bubble gum wax packs. I collected during Ken Griffey Jr.’s prime (thus I have dozens of his cards), I bought Beckett Baseball Card Monthly magazines when Michael Jordan was on the cover because of his stint in baseball.

I have loved the sport for years. I have spent hundreds of hours sorting baseball cards, playing baseball and imagining myself hitting a walk off home run in the world series.

So going to Safeco Field is truly a treat.

We managed to find $6.00 parking instead of $25 in the stadium garage so we could splurge on overpriced food. It was a great afternoon despite the loss.

There is nothing like an afternoon at “The Safe.”

What A Pick!

I am a huge sports fan. It’s not something that I’ve blogged about too much, but I love sports. I have for as long as I can remember and I probably will until the day I die.

For this NCAA tourney not only did I pick Kansas to win, I was off on the score by one point for each team. Granted, I didn’t have Memphis in the final, but I said the final score would be 76-69 and the actual score was 75-68! Crazy!

Anyone want me to pick lotto numbers for you? Each number will only be off by one. haha.

Just a few minutes ago I caught my dog Cooper watching a replay of the Mariners game today.

Davidson

Well, it looks like I’m going to have picked six of the elite eight  correctly, that includes DAVIDSON! Yes, I actually picked Davidson to make it this far. Why, who knows. When I researched my picks I guess they just stood out.

It’s pretty awesome to watch a team overcome the “odds” that they have. That’s really what sports are all about. It’s about overcoming odds and experiencing the unexpected.

With that being said, they need to lose their next game, haha. But, for them to have accomplished everything they have this year, they deserve a lot of props.

March Sadness…And Perhaps Madness

So I filled out my NCAA tourney bracket primarily picking the higher seeded teams and a few upsets. Well, it looks like most of my upsets are busts. In fact only I only have 8 of the sweet 16 still in the tourney. WOW, that’s bad. Kansas is still in but it’s not looking pretty. I guess I have to cling to the fact that I picked Davidson to beat G-town.  Overall though it’s pretty sad.

 Aaaahhhh…the madness!
