Urgent Care (Part 2) With A Side Of ER
Early last week I posted about how I had to visit urgent care for some stomach and chest pain/discomfort that ended up being diagnosed at acid reflux. Well…a couple days later (Wednesday) I ended up having to go back. In fact not only did I go to urgent care but I ended up in the ER. Fun times.
Part 2 of my urgent care saga began when I was in a meeting for work and I began to feel lightheaded and my left arm began to feel weak and tingly. Now, tightness in my check I felt like I could put off for a little while but I figured these symptoms were pretty serious and so I headed back over to urgent care where the doctors did an EKG which lead them to conclude that I needed to go to the ER for some type of blood enzyme test.
So, after waiting at urgent care hooked up to oxygen, Monika picked me up and took me to the ER (it was either that or a costly ride in an ambulance). Once at the hospital and in my incredibly sexy hospital gown I saw a wonderful doctor who told me that urgent care was just being extra cautious by sending me over for the blood test which she said wouldn’t tell her anything she needed to know. Instead after asking me a variety of questions she reconfirmed what the original doctor said and added that stress can make acid reflux worse, even to the point of mimicking heart attack symptoms!
Nevertheless she wanted to run another EKG which came back without any real concerns.
So now I am taking Prilosec OTC religiously for several weeks hoping that it will help alleviate the problem and I have to say that after about 10 days of taking it, I am feeling much better.
Just thought I’d keep you up to speed on my medical adventures…

My Assistant’s Name Is Sarah
Yesterday I tweeted about how my assistant, Sarah thought that I was wearing a track jacket with a Harry Potter logo on it. Which I was not as you can see from the photo below. It was in fact a jacket from Express. That is all beside the point now.
In an attempt to only slightly embarrass Sarah I didn’t include her name “Sarah” in the tweet. However, Sarah took offense to the fact that I didn’t include her name in the tweet. So I told Sarah, that I would devote an entire posts to this subject so that I could include her name, Sarah, in the post.
Sarah, how have I done? I hope I have adequately included your name, Sarah, in this post.
By the way Sarah, not only do I not wear Harry Potter clothing, I also don’t store my clothing in a magical wardrobe…although…the logo on my jacket is that of a lion…hmm

New Tires
I’ve been needing to get some new tires for Monika’s car and so this evening I swung by my buddy Kerry’s shop. He’s a manager for Firestone and as such has access to tires, go figure.
As a matter of fact, I’m sitting in the lobby of his shop writing this post. It’s awfully crazy that I can be sitting in a tire shop blogging via my phone. We definitely are a connected generation.
It’s hard to imagine where technology will take us five, ten, fifteen years from now but I think it’s safe to assume that blogging from a tire shop will look like nothing in just a few short years.

Black Friday Chaos
Monika and I are not “Black Friday people.” We don’t scour the adds looking for the best door buster deals or wait in line overnight. In fact there is a part of me that really wrestles with what Black Friday says about the state of our society (we’ll leave that for another post). However we do like stretching our money and so yesterday afternoon we ventured out to the mall.
I had some money left over from my birthday and have been looking to pick up a few new articles of clothing for the winter and so I thought this might be a good time to get the most for my money. We weren’t at the mall for long and we only visited a couple stores but this picture from JC Penney’s is representative of the chaos that is Black Friday.
Yuck.

Flight 815
This is quite possibly the best thing I will see all day. Saw this originally at www.ragamuffinsoul.com and then found the original design at www.likecool.com.

Are You Contemprovant?
I was introduced to this great video today that spoofs a lot of today’s churches (mine included). The North Point Media Team did a brilliant job with this video.
… Sometimes you just have to poke fun at yourself.

What Apps Do You Use?
Sometimes as I’m downloading applications for my phone I wonder what other brilliant apps are out there that I am unaware of. I find myself curious about what other applications can revolutionize my life with the simple touch of a finger.
I personally have several favorites, but Siri is at the top of my list. It’s my own little personal assistant, helping me find events, restaurants, etc. and it is all done through voice commands. It’s a proven winner!
If you have an iphone or ipod touch, I’d love to hear what your favorite apps are.
You can never have too many applications!
