"Fancy Fast Food"

Growing up, a night at McDonald’s was a real treat. We “didn’t get out much” because money was tight, so a two cheese burger meal with fries and an orange Hi-C was like a night at Ruth Chris.

Interestingly enough, today it truly can be…sort of.

Check out “Fancy Fast Food”, it’s not what it looks like!

Poochi Mochi

So, I’ve posted about mochi before (the rice paste covered ice cream) and how much I love it. Well, the other day my wife Monika and I were at Bellevue Square Mall and we went into a swanky dog supply store and look what I found!

Lunchtime Veggies

It’s been four days since I went on my produce mission, shopping for fruits and veggie and I am still going strong with my veggie intake. It’s strange but I feel like I can sustain this. Like I said last night, I think 2008 is going to be this incredible year of change and I can’t wait to see the benefits.

I think a big part of all of this is my blogging. I know it sounds crazy but there is something incredible about being held accountable to all of you. Maybe it’s an ego thing but ultimately because there are so many of you reading this I don’t want to let you down. I don’t want to seem like a failure or someone who simply hops on the bandwagon. Haha, I don’t even know who many of you are and yet there is this deep desire to please all of you.

For that reason, and for the sake of my health I sit here at lunch eating my veggies. And believe it or not, I’m actually enjoying them!

Produce

After I went to the gym this morning I proceed to the grocery store on a mission. A produce mission. I’m not typically the type to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. I do like them, fruits especially, but I find that I am most commonly drawn to carbs. I love pasta and bread, crackers, chips etc. However I am becoming increasingly aware of my need to change up my diet.

I’m fortunate at this point in my life because my metabolism is still running at full steam. However, while I’m not packing on the pounds I understand the significance of a balanced diet. For that reason I am on a produce mission. Incorportate fruits and veggies and moderate my diet in general.

It’s funny, Greg Wingard the life coach I mentioned a couple post ago came with a big bag of veggies that he munched between sessions. Strangely enough I was envious of his carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes. Not because I struggle with my weight or I am over indulging in horrible foods, but because  there is something strong about being able to control your diet. To be able to avoid the extra piece of pie or the extra handful of chips. I’m definitely not in control of my diet yet, but today’s produce mission is a start.

I’m not all about completely cutting things out of my diet but I am going to start taking steps to managing what I put in my body.

Mochi

There is a little thing called mochi ice cream and it is just about my favorite food in the world. Unfortunately it’s kind of hard to come by. The only place I’ve seen it is Trader Joe’s and there isn’t one all that close to my house. However, every so often I make a trip to a Trader Joe’s just to get mochi. Well, tonight was one of those nights and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I am enjoying my little rice paste covered ice cream! Yum.

Spilt Orange Juice

A couple of days ago I spilt some orange juice in my truck on the way to work. Fortunately for me it’s been ridiculously cold and instead of going bad, it essentially froze allowing for me to wait until yesterday to clean it up. I would have like to have cleaned it up on the evening of the day that it happened but by the time I got home from work it was dark outside and crazy cold. So, yesterday I took a little time at work to clean it up while it was slightly less cold outside and considerably brighter. I thought the best option for cleaning it up was some “tuff stuff” apolstery cleaner. It’s a pretty generic cleaner but it does a good job and once again it worked just fine. The problem however is the lingering smell. While it is definately better than rotten orange juice it still isn’t “good” in fact after a while it become straight-up bad.

Here’s to choosing the lesser of two evils!
