An "Authentic" Sacred Moment
I love days like yesterday where I get to be involved in sacred moments. Things like baptisms, baby dedications, etc. Yesterday I actually got to be a part of both, two memorable and sacred moments. The funny things is, my favorite moment, the most sacred moment to me, took place behind stage before the doors to the baptismal were even opened.
As we got ready for the baptism, I stood in the tank with Sandi our baptism candidate listening to the worship music. At some point all four of us back stage, our baptism host, the photographer, myself and Sandi were all singing.
Worshipping.
Sandi with both hands raised high and tears flowing down her cheeks, our photographer doing likewise the host team member singing and keeping time with bouncing knees.
Surrender took place in that baptismal. It was an offering. Something sacred and “authentic.” We use that word “authentic” a lot in the church and I sometimes wonder if it’s lost its meaning. But in that sacred moment, back stage, hidden from the hundreds of people worshiping out front, an authentic moment of surrender took place, and it was beautiful.

Thoughts From The "Man Up" Rally

- God isn’t looking for perfection, He’s looking for passion.
- Sight comes from our eyes, vision comes from our heart.
- Lead while you learn.
- God can use failures to springboard you to success.
- We need to be willing/looking for opportunities to move to a place of greater effectiveness.
- Pray.
- Look at prayer as a communication strategy.
- When growth is a part of our lives, freedom is eminent.
- Ask God to remember you.

Mark Batterson at "Ignite"
First off, I’m sorry for the lull in posting – just hadn’t been feeling the whole blogging thing the last few weeks. With that being said, let’s get things rolling again…
I have been at a conference for the last several days and have had the opportunity to hear Mark Batterson speak. Mark is pastor of National Community Church in Washington D.C. and author of a couple great books; definitely the type of guy you want to learn from.
Well, Mark dropped a great deal of knowledge and insight but a couple of things in particular stood out and I just want to toss them out here for people to meditate on.
1. “At any moment God can invade my life and change it forever.”
2.”We pray for miracles but don’t do anything to prepare for them.”
Chew on that.

I've Been Doing Big Things
I hate, yet love, those times when you have an epiphany about something and the significance is so great, yet you can’t understand why it didn’t come to you earlier.
In the moment when that happens you are so overwhelmed by your new found understanding, yet you feel a little stupid because it took you so long to figure things out.
For the longest time I have felt like God has called me to “do something big.” I’ve never known exactly what that meant, but deep down inside was the feeling that God created me to do something significant.
I always wanted that to be something in the spotlight, something that involved power and influence, maybe even a decent salary, if I’m completely honest with myself. To me that would be “big.”
Over the last 4 1/2 years, I have been in ministry and while I have seen the significance of it and while I have loved helping people dive into deep passionate relationships with Christ, I never viewed it as that “big thing.” I’ve always been waiting for something more. Something “bigger.”
Yet the other day I had the realization that there is nothing bigger than helping people come to personal, intimate, authentic relationships with Christ.
I know that sounds like such a duh statement for someone who is in ministry. But for me it was a profound realization. I think in my heart I have known the significance but intellectually I failed to make the connection. I wonder how many other people like me get that concept deep down inside, but fail to realize it with their brains.
Realize that truly, there is nothing bigger, more impressive, more significant than helping someone develop and grow a relationship with Christ.

"Prayer Tweets"
I’ve started prayer tweeting.
If you haven’t you are so behind the eight ball. Nah not really, but I would suggest giving it a try.
Here is what it means to “prayer tweet” in three easy steps
1. Pray regularly. Whenever you recognize a need or a blessing, pray.
2. Keep it short. One or two sentences max.
3. Each time you “prayer tweet” spend a minute or two reflecting on what it is that your are tweeting about and God’s involvement in that.
See, here’s the deal. If you are like many people, including myself, sitting down and praying for extended periods of time is a HUGE challenge. Life is busy, our minds wander and we end up forgetting why we’re praying in the first place and what the significance of prayer is.
However, prayer tweeting keeps you in prayer all throughout the day.
“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
