Friday Feature #11: Moe Vivas (@Moe_NYC)

Let me just start by saying that I have “met” some phenomenal people over the last few weeks via social media. If you recall, about a month ago I asked via a post if I should begin using Twitter as more of a networking tool, rather than just a means by which to communicate daily happenings to friends and family.

Well, after some deliberation I decided to begin engaging more regularly with a wider range of people and one of the people I came across via my  good friend @ThatGuyKC was Moe Vivas (@Moe_NYC).

Professionally Moe is a legal assistant but for the last six months on the web, he has been the author of BetaChristian.net.

When I asked Moe what he hopes to accomplish through his blog he said,

I want to enlighten people, make them laugh, challenge them and show that we are all “beta” Christians. We are not perfect. We are getting there, but we are not there just yet. I hope my blog becomes a place where people can just lower their “walls” and be real. I hope that carries over to real life. We live in a generation of Christians who feel they have to walk a certain way, talk a certain way, dress a certain way to show the world they are Christians. We can only grow spiritually if we are honest with ourselves and with other people.

I think it is this sentiment that has established BetaChristian.net as one of my staple blog reads. Moe provides great insights and has worked hard to create a great online community.

There are thousands of blogs out there, many of which touch on life and spiritual issues but I have found Moe’s writing to be incredibly insightful and refreshing. So if you are looking for a great new blog to follow, I highly recommend you check out BetaChristian.net.

I also encourage you to check him out on Twitter, he has a tendency to bring a little humor to the “twitterverse” as well.

    • But the question to ask is: if your Google Reader goes down, will you be able to type the url? True blogging friends do. So… who are you? :)

      Thanks dude. Mucho amor!

  4. I disagree with most of these guys. Personally, I think he’s cocky, selfish and a bit of a jerk. He looks like the type that has Oompa Loompas writing for him and he gets all the credit! #shame.

Honestly, thanks David for doing this. You are a great blogger and dude. Proud to get to know you through these tubes!

    Much love brotha!

  5. I like that you call Beta Christian a “staple blog”. I also find that a steady diet of Moe keeps the blues away, as well as challenges my faith! It’s like a super food!

As his soon to be #1 commenter (I’m currently in competition with The Donald who has the 1st place spot), I can assure you that Moe’s blog is the place where all the cool kats hang out. Hope to see you around there. :)

Just keep the place tidy a bit. I’ve started to see some coffee cake crumbs on my virtual coffee table.

  8. Hey just came across your site from another person’s blog. Anyways, I’ve been following Moe for 2 months now, and he is such a jerk. JKJK. He’s legit, and definitely agree about his writing–one of the most creative blogs that I read. Moe, don’t let this get to your head, now :)

    • I do. I’m a road bike guy. I don’t get out as often as I would like but I enjoy it when I do. I hoping I’ll get back out more regularly this season.
