Hmm…I Think I'd Remember That…

Someone must have doctored that photo because I would have remembered being in that field with all of that corn and hay…

Spark

The last week and a half have been crazy in terms of our computer situation at New Life. The servers have been replaced, computers have been backed up, people have been unable to log-on, it’s been a challenging finding files, etc…

Yesterday however I finally was able to get back on my machine and I was able to play around with a new program loaded onto all of our computers called “spark.” Essentially it’s an instant messaging program that we can use internally.

Let me just say, I love it! It’s a free program and it’s going to save so much time AND space in my inbox.

If your office could use something like this, I highly recommend you check it out!

Life Without My Computer

What in the world did people do before they had computers?!

This last week we replaced the servers at the church and now we are dealing with the lingering effects of a major IT project. My primary issue is that I can’t seem to get on my computer! As a result I am working from a volunteer work station in the main office. Not too bad, although I can’t get into my docs. AND I can’t check my email. Major bummer.

Anyway, I’m managing alright… except for the slightly sticky keyboard… hmm.

Oh well, people survived before they had computers. How they did so I’m not entirely sure, but I’m sure by the end of this upgrade I will have an idea.

New Pillows

Monika and I went shopping today, not really for any thing in particular, but we ended up with a few great things. Most notable, two incredible pillows. I know it sounds lame, but oh are they nice.

I didn’t really understand just how badly I needed new pillows. Monika had told me my pillows were flat and less than lofty, but they seemed fine to me.

Well, we were at Nordstrom Rack and we happened upon some CK pillows. Normally not even something I’d consider. They’re pillows after all who cares what brand they are. I just need them to have some good fluff. Anyway, I started “squishing” them and before I knew it I had two new pillows.

Once we got home I compared them with my old drool stained pillows and oh my goodness, I was resting my head on stone tablets for the last six years.

Who knew new pillows could feel so good?!

Facebook Group – The Crossing

Well, I just opened up our facebook group for The Crossing. It is so exciting to think about where this ministry is going. Literally, two months ago this wasn’t even on the table, and here we are today with a facebook group.

Really movin’ up in the world.

If you could be in prayer for this ministry as it gets its feet off the ground that would be incredible. Pray that people will engage on a high level and that lives will be changed.

Kerry AND 24hr Fitness

I went to the gym this evening with Monika and we worked out for a while, but in the process I ran across Kerry. Kerry was a part of the New Life school of ministry this past year and he’s a great guy.

Our conversation began as small talk but quickly went into what the new young adult ministry is going to look like. Kerry, ended up making it very clear that he is interested in being involved in the leadership of the ministry.

It is my hope that over the next few months a great number of people will express not just interest in the ministry, but a desire to serve and create a ministry that truly will lead people closer to Christ.

Back From Camp, Ready For Adults

It’s been a while since I posted last due to our summer kids camp that I was a part of directing. Camps ran from Sunday to Wed. and Wed. to Sat.. Crazy schedule but ultimately a great week of spiritual growth.

That camp really was my last big thing that has been preventing me from jumping into young adult ministry. Now that I have completed camp, I am able to devote a larger amount of time focusing on my new responsibility which is developing an incredible ministry for people age 18-30.

It is looking like the ministry will be called “The Crossing” and we will kick off our first service in Sept.

I admit this is a huge shift for me, but I am so excited to see ministry happening specifically for, and by young adults.

It’s going to be incredible.
