Car Camping

I love camping. I don’t do it enough, but I love it.

The tents, the fires, the coleman stoves. Relaxation at it’s finest.

Monika and I are going camping this weekend with a bunch of friends.

I truly can’t wait.

There are few things in life as great as spending time in the outdoors with some good friends.

…load up the car…head to the campsite.

Sushi, Starbucks and Creativity

Today was a great day. Well, it started out pretty bad, but once our creative team got off site the day got much better and it truly ended up being great.

Today our creative team got away to plan out the teaching schedule for 2009. We kicked things off with some sushi, grabbed some Starbucks and began the brainstorming. It’s pretty amazing the talent at New Life and I feel very blessed to be able to glean as much wisdom as I am able to from the team.

Life is good when you have raw fish, green tea frapps and brilliant co-workers.

WI AND TX

As I’ve been promoting The Crossing I have had the opportunity to connect with a lot of people, including some people who are moving into the areas from Wisconsin and Texas. I have never met these people before, but because of their connections at New Life they are floored to get plugged into The Crossing.

I truly believe God is going to use this ministry for some big things.

Laying It Out There

I had a great conversation today with a guy who’s been through a lot. He’s done drugs, gotten into drinking, ultimately made some choices that he now realizes weren’t the best.

Best part of the conversation was him telling me about all of those things. Not because he needed to. Not because I necessarily needed to know, but because he was admitting some mistakes he’s made. He was acknowledging that he had veered from God’s path and he is now ready to jump back on the road and continue pursuing a relationship with God.

For me, hearing that openness was refreshing. It was great to hear someone just lay out their mistakes and say, here’s who I am, here’s where I’ve been, but here is where I’m going.

Profound. It’s not easy to do that, but I believe the impact on a person can be absolutely profound.

Here’s to laying it all out there, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Core Team

I just had an incredible evening with a bunch of people who I hope will end up being part of the core Crossing team. As we kick off this ministry it is incredibly important for us to get together a team of people who are passionate about seeing young adults come to know Christ.

It was a great mix of older 20 somethings, late teens, married and non-married, men, and women. Not only that, most people didn’t even know each other. It was perfect.

Granted, I’m sure many of them are concerned with the commitment and having to make their involvement a priority. But I believe many if not all of them will see the incredible potential of this ministry and will be willing to make the sacrifices necessary to be a part of the team.

God is doing great things and I can’t wait to see it all come together!

www.newlifecrossing.com

Well, it’s up. The website for The Crossing our new young adult ministry is now up!

It may seem like a small thing but that little website will let a lot of people know what God is doing in the lives of young adults at New Life.

Go Check it out.

The Last Three Years

Over the Course of the last 3 years (38 months really) a whole lot has happened. There is no way it was my doing. Things too amazing, too big, too incredible have happened. God’s hand has been in it all. Here’s what’s happened…

1. Got Married

2. Participated in Hurricane Katrina Relief

3. Graduated from college two quarters early with a double major

4. Lead a second Katrina relief mission trip

5. Got a job as Children’s pastor

6. Bought and paid off two cars, one of which was my dream car

7. Moved to Renton

8. Went on a mission trip to Mexico

9. Got a Golden Retriever (I have wanted one since I was a kid)

10. Bought a house

11.  Have spoken at multiple conferences

12. Rode the Seattle to Portland Bike Ride

13. Became Young Adult Pastor

That’s pretty incredible. That is three years worth of God doing BIG things in my life. WOW!

Back From The Land Of Bavaria

Well I’m back from the land of Bavaria and I feel nice and refreshed. Our retreat was great and I definitely could have used another day or two but I’m ready to rock and roll.

Leavenworth

I’m in Leavenworth (the city, not the prison) with a good portion of the New Life Team on a retreat and it truly is great. Not just great to be away, but great to be a part of such an awesome team. I work with some incredible people and it is so nice to be able to get away and just enjoy them as people rather than co-workers or spouses of co-workers.

I believe it truly would be hard to be a part of another ministry team after being apart of the team at New Life.
