Dinner With The Jones'
Monika and I had a nice dinner with Troy and Jana Jones the Sr. Pastors of New Life. We don’t get together just the four of us too often, but we definitely need to. They are great people and I value their input and perspective on life and ministry.
Our conversation was great and we talked about some fun stuff. I hope we’ll be able to have more nights out like this in the future.

The Firework Chronicles (Day 1)
We have begun our Family Life Firework sales and as a result, my posting may very well become brief, due to a crazy schedule and a lot of late nights. However, I am going to start the “Firework Chronicles” and sum up my days in word or two. If you wish for me to expand upon the word, leave a comment and say so.
Day number 1
Exhausting
Late
Prepatory

Now Is Not The Time To Get Sick
I think I’m in the midst of a battle for my health. As much as I would like to think it’s allergies, I think I’m getting a cold.
Yuck.
In some ways colds are worse than the flu because while you feel miserable you still can sort of function and as a result you have to go about your daily tasks. When you have the flu and are expelling your lunch, it’s pretty tough to go into work because you never know when you’re going to toss your cookies.
This is definitely not a good time for me to be getting sick, with normal ministry task, firework sales, kids camp, the STP ride, etc.
In an attempt to battle this little bug, I’ve been taking a cocktail of vitamins, minerals and drinks containing both. Oh, I’m also using those zicam nose swabs.
I hope I can kick this thing before it gets too bad.
Any suggestions on what works well to get rid of a cold?

Farmer Wants A Wife
There are some stupid shows on TV these days, ie. “Farmer Wants A Wife.” Granted this show is very similar to the bachelor but the idea of trying to get a city girl to transform into a country wife is pretty ridiculous. That’s not to say that can’t happen, hasn’t happened or won’t ever happen, but to force it on a TV show, in addition to forcing the ultimate issue of love… ridiculous.

Crazy Day
I had a crazy day. Part of it was thought provoking. Part of it was frustrating. Part of it was encouraging. Part of it was absolutely hilariously ridiculous.
Life is crazy. It keeps us on our toes and it should keep us on our knees; if you know what I mean.

Pouring Into Young Leaders
One of the things that I enjoy the most about my position as a pastor is the opportunity to pour into the lives of young leaders.
Today we began our summer discipleship program called SALT. This a one day a week commitment for six weeks where we take high school students to a variety of locations and talk about topics that tie into where we are at for the day.
For example…
Today we took a ferry ride and discusses Paul and his travels and specifically what we need to do to be prepared to share the gospel no matter where we go. It was a great time and I’m really looking forward to our next outing.
Below are some pictures I took of Seattle on the way back. Breathtaking.

Triple Booked
On Sunday evenings I lead our kid’s worship team practice. Tonight the room we were supposed to use was triple booked. As a result we had to use another room.
In addition, attendance was low. This could have lead to a bad evening, but the seven kids that attended worshiped God in a great way and it was breathtaking to watch.
While I would have much rather used our normal room, perhaps this change of scenery created a fresh environment to connect with God.
How do you keep your connection with God “fresh?”
