Produce
After I went to the gym this morning I proceed to the grocery store on a mission. A produce mission. I’m not typically the type to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. I do like them, fruits especially, but I find that I am most commonly drawn to carbs. I love pasta and bread, crackers, chips etc. However I am becoming increasingly aware of my need to change up my diet.
I’m fortunate at this point in my life because my metabolism is still running at full steam. However, while I’m not packing on the pounds I understand the significance of a balanced diet. For that reason I am on a produce mission. Incorportate fruits and veggies and moderate my diet in general.
It’s funny, Greg Wingard the life coach I mentioned a couple post ago came with a big bag of veggies that he munched between sessions. Strangely enough I was envious of his carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes. Not because I struggle with my weight or I am over indulging in horrible foods, but because there is something strong about being able to control your diet. To be able to avoid the extra piece of pie or the extra handful of chips. I’m definitely not in control of my diet yet, but today’s produce mission is a start.
I’m not all about completely cutting things out of my diet but I am going to start taking steps to managing what I put in my body.

The Moses Experiment: Part 6
It’s interesting how prayer, while so vital to our relationship with God, is often cast aside for unimportant activities such at TV watching, or video games. We (myself included) justify these activities by saying that we need to “unwind” or “decompress.” Yet, shouldn’t a conversation with God be the ultimate form of unwinding? Sharing our concerns, giving thanks for our blessings, seeking council for our lives. Shouldn’t the simple fact that we can unload upon the broadest shoulders of them all be a great form of decompression?
Prayer is one of those incredibly important aspects of a relationship with God and yet we negligently cast it aside as something that only precedes meals and bedtime.
When Moses, told Joshua to lead the Israelites against the Amalekites he struggled with prayer. He became weary in his appeal to God and needed the help of Aaron and Hur to literally lift him up. Who in your life not only lifts you up in prayer, but also lifts you up so that you can continually pray?
My prayer tonight is that we all can find our Aarons and Hurs. People who hold us accountable to talking with God, so that when it comes time decompress we do so by hitting our knees not the buttons on our remotes.

We just hit a milestone. Over the last month this site has had 500 hits! Whether that’s good or not I’m not entirely sure. haha. But it is nonetheless pretty cool. Keep checking back and sending your friends this way.

Willow Creek "confession"
A colleague of mine sent me a link to this article about the “mistakes” Willow Creek Community Church has made in the way they have gone about ministry. This is such a thought provoking article that I need some time to process it. I definitely want to post my thoughts on it but I need to digest everything. Take some time to read this, think it over, and then let me know your thoughts.

About To Buy My Bike
As I mentioned in my 2008 goals, I am planning on riding the STP (Seattle to Portland). This is a 200+ mile bike ride and will be my first attempt at something like this. I’m totally excited to start training for this but in order to do so I need to get my bike. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it in the next week or so. I’ll make sure to post pictures when I bring home my new ride.

The Red Bucket Strategy
At work today I had the privilege of taking part in a workshop by life coach and consultant Greg Wingard. He has what he calls The Red Bucket Strategy. Summed up, this strategy says, you focus on improving one thing in your life at a time. Spend approx. 90-120 days on it and it will become habitual. Once you complete that task you move on to the next goal. It’s a pretty great strategy and one that I hope to incorporate into my life coaching once I get up and running.
If you want to check out his company you can at www.simpleteamsolutions.com.

Mexico Home Build '08
I went on a mission trip to Mexico about this time last year and I helped to build this house for Edgar. As you can see Edgar was pretty excited. In just a few days another team is going down to build a house. Please be in prayer for the team as well as the family that the house is being built for. Prayer that God’s presence will be felt by all.

A little Geeky, Maybe. But Oh So Much Fun
A friend of mine let me borrow his Sim City game…I know it’s not the coolest game in the world. I recognize that it’s a little geeky, but there is something about being able to control an entire city that is oh so much fun.
